We had a British Racing Green saloon Rover 820si. It was the 2.0litre and though not rapid was rather stately in that you didn’t want to drive fast. It was so comfy and spacious it was like driving a comfy sofa to where you wanted. It still had some pace if you needed it. There was two larger engines, the 2.5 and the 2.7. The 2.7 was liked by the police in some areas as it had size and speed.

One day I’d like a mint condition Rover 800 Series Coupe, I don’t care how big the engine is.

An 800 coupe has always been the car I’ve most wanted to bring over to the US, now that its within the 25 year age limit.

The interiors are seriously nice for early ‘90s.

I like the Coupe and Sedan in Vitesse shape, those wheels look great.

Not many left I presume.

We had the fabric seats and honestly. It was like sitting on a really comfy sofa, doing 70mph.

They go for about £2,000 now but there is this 1996 Rover 825 Sterling Coupe. 7,000miles, one owner for £3,495.

I take it the values are starting to tick up again, then? I remember seeing that good examples were half that price or less ca. 10 years ago.

We were supposed to have gotten it stateside originally. The 800 Coupe was actually designed with the American market in mind, but BAE/Rover pulled the passenger cars out of North America just months before it debuted.

Had it made it here, it would have been the first car to carry the Rover name in the US since 1980, as the plan was to phase out the Sterling brand starting in early 1992.

Surprisingly there are still quite a few for sale in very good condition, typically around £2,000 for an 825.

Ours was like the one below.

Kinja'd!!!

The BRG had two different spates/rubbing strips. One had body coloured bumpers as standard with colour matched spates.

The other you could have was body coloured bumpers with black spates and black bumper top surrounds. Like the one below. Ours was like that but with the 7 spoke alloys that resembled more like the 6 spoke in spoke style.

Like these.
